Soft Autumn Sugar Cookies


1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
3/4 cup sour cream

Preheat oven to 400*F.  Beat butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.  Mix the dry ingredients together.  Add dry ingredients to sugar mixture, alternating with sour cream.  Chill 2-3 hours.  Roll out and cut into desired shapes.  Bake 10 minutes.  Cool on wire racks.

For frosting:
1/2 cup butter
Dash of salt
5 teaspoons milk
4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix together and spread on cooled cookies.
